Fort Davis was a frontier military post in the 1800s, and today the reminisce of that part of history is visible in the Fort Davis National Historical Site. There are some unique, volcano larva formed mountain ranges in this region, and it has Texas' second highest peak, Mount Livermore. There are also some exquisite little towns such as Marfa, Fort Davis (the city) and so on. It is really one of Texas' hidden treasures.
