Virginia 2002

Most pictures here are taken between October and December, 2002 in Northern Virginia and Washington D.C.

1. Thomas Jefferson's Home in Monticello.
2. The farm at Monticello.
3. Fall colors in Monticello.
4. Thomas Jefferson's tomb in Monticello.
5. Luray Caverns, dubbed "the best in the East".
6. Luray Caverns.
7. Luray Caverns.
8. I was told that Luray Caverns have the best draperies according to National Geographic. In this picture you can get a sense how big the formations are as you can see the silhouettes of people in the foreground.
9. Fall foliage in Shenandoah National Park. I actually took two trips to the park. This one was taken during the first trip when it was raining.
10. This one and subsequent ones were taken at Shenandoah National Park during my second trip, at which time the foliage had passed its peak.
11. Fall foliage in Shenandoah National Park.
12. Fall foliage in Shenandoah National Park.
13. Fall foliage in Shenandoah National Park.
14. Fall foliage in Shenandoah National Park. It is from these pictures I realized that my favorite slide film, Fuji Provia 100 F (RDP III) is probably too sensitive to UV (ultra-violet) light, as all pictures have a hazy blue cast (even though I used a UV filter most of the time).
15. Fall foliage in Shenandoah National Park.
16. Fall foliage in Shenandoah National Park.
17. Korea War Memorial in Washington D.C.
18. The Vietnam War Memorial actually offers pretty good Fall colors too. This one was taken the day before Memorial Day.
19. The Vietnam War Memorial Wall, you can see the reflection of the Washington Monument on the wall.
20. "To the friends we lost".
