Brazos Bend State Park, Houston, Texas
I lived for 6 years in Houston and a total of 8 years in Texas, yet I had never been to Brazos Bend State Park, a park south of Houston at the "big bend" of the Brazos River. I had heard about this park, nicknamed Houston's "Alligator Park", but I always thought I had plenty of time to go there -- until it was too late. So, on my first visit to Houston after moving away 3 years ago, I finally paid my homage to this jewel of a state park in the otherwise overly industrialized Bayou City.
