2006 Pacific Northwest
My Spring 2006 ill-fated trip to Pacific Northwest.
Why ill-fated? Because before we took the trip, there was practically a drought in the Pacific Northwest, but as soon as we arrived, it reverted to its cold and rainy self. Sure, it is easy to say "if you love nature, you should love it at any condition", and I can easily be accused of a "sunny day nature lover", however, when you drive all the way to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park and all you see is a blanket of cold, wet fog and nothing else, you will understand. We would have gone to Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, or even Redwood National Park in northern California, but we had to cut the trip short. This was my second trip to the Pacific Northwest, after a similar wet trip 6 years ago, and I don't know when I will have another chance -- it was very disappoin ting.
The only consolation was that we always have our good ol' Shenandoah to fall back on to, so we did some hiking there.
